EWA, HANDBALL, QATAR AND PARIS (2)

If, like me, you remember Ewa's classic Pollywood interview in English with most amusement she's gone and done it again :-)
I shouldn't tease considering how poor both my Czech and Polish are but her English really isn't improving much.  But it's still drop dead, gorgeously cute.  And we fully appreciate her efforts to even try....we really do.

Educate a Child appears to be the Charity which is being sponsored by the Handball tournament.  I can't seem to find an Official link to this Charity but here is the UK equivalent if you wish to make a donation.

EWA, HANDBALL, QATAR AND PARIS (1)

Earlier this month Ewa lent her voice to the Official Men's Handball World Championship's theme song which will be held in Qatar in 2015.
I have to admit that i know nothing whatsoever about handball (it's not big in Belfast!) but she went to Paris to record the promotional video with the other artists involved (none of whom i recognise?).

Ewa's parts are the best, obviously :-)

EWA AT CHRISTMAS

Ewa was part of a special recorded church service that was shown on Polish TV on Christmas Eve.
It took place in St.Annes Church in Krakow.  I've visited this church before and it's a beautiful building.
I'm sure you will agree that it's a fantastic performance and really shows what a talented young lady 'our girl' is.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2014

It's that time of year again for all here at EFUK to wish all a very happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas.
If you're not Christian have a great day anyway!
Thank you for all your support both here and on the Facebook page throughout 2014.  It's very appreciated.

LEPORELO (UPDATE 4)

The launch party for the new Czech album took place in the Bontonland record store in central Prague on 06/11/2014.
In other news there are rumours that Ewa's guitarist Tomas has left (or is leaving) the band but as yet i haven't been able to confirm this.
Lots more Leporelo promotional appearances to come.

Wednesday 22 October 2014

LEPORELO (UPDATE 2)

Copies of the new album are now available for pre order here -

At the moment i'm assuming that it will be CD only or a download if you prefer that format.

TAJNA MISJA ON 'DANCING WITH THE STARS' (PL)

Yesterday Ewa was the special guest on 'Dancing with the Stars' (PL) (that's the Polish version of Strictly to you and me!!).
Performed Tajna Misja. Sorry this footage isn't great but it's the best i can find.
Must confess she looked fabulous.

LEPORELO (UPDATE 1)

Rumours have been circulating on the internet today that this is the proposed sleeve/cover to the new Czech album.
Nothing confirmed as yet but i quite like this?  Seems to be a mash up of one of the latest DNES magazine pics with the logo and title superimposed over it?
To me it does look a little amateurish but time will tell.
Confirmation as usual as and when.

Thursday 16 October 2014

LEPORELO RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED!

It has now been confirmed that the album title for the Czech language version of (W)inna? will be Leporelo and will be released on 06/11/2014.

I can't find any of the usual Czech/Slovak sites that are taking pre orders yet but will update when i can.

Hopefully this should bring a new round of promotional appearances surrounding the album launch.
Watch this space.  As ever a full review will come as soon as possible.

FRIDAY NIGHT VIDEO

One of my favourite tracks from the Virtualni album.
Ewa doesn't seem to play this one live in the Cze very often these days which is a shame as i think it's a little gem :-)

ON TOMÁŠ LACINA

I've always been of the opinion that the guys in Ewa's band don't always get the recognition they deserve.  After all, without them would the experience be the same.  The each have their individual personalities and all bring their own style to both the studio and the live arena.

It's been my intention for some time to try and do individual posts with some background to each of them but due to various reasons have never gotten around to it.  I spotted this article a few days ago which contains a great interview with Ewa's current Bass player Tomáš.

It's in Czech unfortunately but just use your normal translation tool for a very interesting piece.

Ewa's campaign to be on the cover of every magazine known to man gets another update.

All at E.F.U.K. would like to wish Ewa a very happy 21st Birthday.
We hope she has a lovely and special day.

LEPORELO - OFFICIAL VIDEO

Here it is at last the Official Leporelo video (Cze).
She looks fabulous as always but i don't think all that much effort has been put into the video?
It's fine but if you compare it to the TM video it's a little bit of a let down i think?
Love the song though and hope it's a huge success.  It deserves to be.

TAJNA MISJA - OFFICIAL PROMO VIDEO

At last the Official Tajna Misja Promo video and what a little gem it is.
Don't think i've ever seen Ewa looking so lovely, fit and healthy.
ENJOY!!

EWA IN OSTRAVA 16/07/2014

Ewa yesterday played at a festival in Ostrava (Cze) with a full orchestra.

SPEECHLESS

There isn't an awful lot that goes on in Farnaworld that leaves me speechless.
On EFUK we've talked a few times about how cruelly the press treat Ewa.  Both the Polish and Czech press are equally guilty to a lesser or greater extent.  I don't think there is a day that goes by where there isn't something nasty and uncalled for printed about Ewa.

You might think that they have gone as low as they go?  So did I.  And then along comes this -

http://www.jenpromuze.cz/start/18395-ewicka-farna-masturbuje-a-prima-z-toho-zverejnila-foto?fb_action_ids=1434276123521483&fb_action_types=og.comments

Words fail me they really do.
I hope that whoever it was that thought it might be a good idea to write this deserves nothing but our utter contempt.  Do they really think that there is a market for this sort of thing?

To call whoever it was that wrote this a 'journalist' is an insult to proper journalists everywhere.  I hope they sleep well at night.

Surely it's about time that Ewa got her lawyer involved.  They shouldn't be allowed to get away with this without being punished.

The gutter press at it's very very worst.

Saturday 12 July 2014

WELCOME!!

EFUK would like to welcome Sam Mansour as a contributor to the site and Facebook page.

Sam is from Tel Aviv in Israel and is a 21 year old student of Computer Engineering and Science at the city's main University.

He's been a fan since 2009 and has managed to see Ewa in concert on 2 occasions.  His only regret is that he was unable to get a photo or an autograph on either visit.

He plays football and basketball and his main hobbies are music, dancing and video games.  He also feels the 'need for speed' and is keen on motoring and cars!

All at EFUK hope that Sam's stay with us is a long and happy one.

ON TAJNA MISJA....AND WHEN A SINGLE IS NOT A SINGLE?

I must confess to getting a little frustrated when i read nowadays that a 'single' has been released.
For many of us, or those of us at a certain age i suppose, the above image is a single.  A beautiful 7" slab of perfectly molded plastic.  Normally black in colour and most times sporting a full colour picture sleeve.  It plays on a record player.

For me, a file that most people seem to download illegally from the internet does not constitute a 'single'. The Official 'singles' chart is simply a fallacy of what it used to be unfortunately.  Yes, times have changed but as far as i'm concerned not for the better.

For me, music isn't just about the song or the tune.  It also has a visual aspect.  I need to hold it in my hand, play it, place it in a plastic protective sleeve and keep it, as my own personal property, forever.
I rarely download anything.  I would normally only download something if, and only if, it is not commercially available on any other format.

With that mini rant over on to Tajna Misja.
The 28 people who have read my (W)inna? review will know that i'm not all that keen on the album as a whole.  I don't hate it it's just that much of it does not sound very much like the Ewa that i know and am a fan of.
It's has it's high points and Tajna Misja is one of them.  It's one of the few tracks on the album which sound like the Ewa we have all gotten used to over the years.  And there is nothing wrong with that.  As i stated in my review 'why try to fix something that isn't actually broken'?  I love it and hope that it does very well.

I suspect that Ewa will not be all that happy with it's release.  I've absolutely no evidence to support that assumption.  It's just a feeling.
Almost every time she has talked about (W)inna? she has said that it reflects what she wants to be doing, sound wise, with her career in the future.  That future appears to be a jazzy, bluesy sort of thing which doesn't really do much for this fan i'm afraid.

With that in mind it begs the question as to why the most standard 'pop' song on the album has been released as a lead track (i refuse to call it a single)?  Surely if the new direction is what we are going to have to get used to now then something like 'Tu bi kontinuit' would have been the obvious choice?  There also seems to be a strong opinion in fandom that Rutyna would have been a better choice.  I don't share that opinion as it's another track that i don't really 'get'.

So why wasn't it and what say Ewa had in the decision we will probably never know.  We do know that (W)inna? was not a commercial success.   It certainly wasn't a failure but reviews were mixed and it didn't stay for very long in the album charts in Poland.  So, is the more experimental sound of  (W)inna? now over? The release of TM would strongly indicate that some rethinking has been done.  Time will tell.  I personally believe that when the Czech version is released we will see some significant changes in the tracklisting.

It may sound that i'm being a tad critical?  That's not my intention.  I reserve the right not to like (W)inna? much and i respect the opinions of others who love it.  It's just an opinion.  Any of us who have invested a lot of time, effort and expense into Ewa have the right to hold an opinion.  If that opinion is sometimes a negative one, then as long as it isn't personal, so be it.

OPOLE MUSIC FESTIVAL (PL) 2014

The annual Music Festival was held in Opole (Poland) between the 6th and 8th June 2014.
Ewa was nominated for 2 awards - Best Female Artist and Best Album.  She won the award for best album with (W)inna.
Also performed a medley of Znak and Tajna Misja which is to be the new 'single' from the album. The 4 people who have read my album review will know that it's my favourite track from the album.
Many congratulations from all at EFUK.

CZECH MUSIC AWARDS 2013/2014 (2)

Ewa's second performance from the Czech Music Awards.  A tribute to Czech legend Karel Gott (i think?).
For me another fantastic, powerful performance.
She just gets better and better.  She really does!

CZECH MUSIC AWARDS 2013/2014 (1)

Sorry this is so late.
Ewa debuted new Czech language song Leporelo at this years Czech Music Awards ceremony.
Very remixed/recorded version of the Polish Znak.
I like it.  A lot.  Much prefer it to Znak.
This year she wasn't nominated for any awards at the ceremony which isn't really surprising as her profile hasn't been promoted much in The Cze this year.
Hopefully with the forthcoming release of the Czech version of (W)INNA? all that will change.
I really enjoyed this performance and thought she looked fantastic.

AND ANOTHER NEW COVER PIC!

Seems that barely a week goes by without 'our girl' making the cover of some sort of magazine.
Another one from Poland.  Looks like some sort of a lifestyle/healthy eating/diet sort of thing.

NEW COVER PIC!

There's been a few magazine cover pics over the last few months, most of which i've missed.  This one is particularly nice!

EWA IN WARSAW 01/05/2014

Ewa performed this duet with Halina Mlynkova (nope, me neither?) yesterday in Warsaw (PL) at a special event held to celebrate Poland's 10th Anniversary of EU membership.
Why anyone would celebrate being a member of the EU is another question :-)
Enjoy!!

ON EFUK THE FACEBOOK PAGE

Being of a certain age, i must confess that it took me some time to even understand the whole Facebook 'thing' let alone try to use it or figure out how it worked.
Eventually i did and i enjoy it.  I've made some good friends from all over the world and caught up with people who, in some cases i haven't seen nor spoken to in years.

It took me quite a while to open a FB page for EFUK for a variety of reasons.  Time and the chance that no one at all would use it where major factors.

Truth be told the EFUK page is doing ok.  In fact it's doing a lot better that the Blog is which is a most pleasant surprise.  I never in a million years expected to have 10 members let alone the over 200 that are there now.  One disappointment is how few of those members are actually from the UK and i do find it slightly frustrating that there aren't more comments than there are but all in all it's been a positive experience.

One of the things i've noticed about FB and FB page owners in particular is how obsessed they are with the number of 'likes' their pages get.  Not a day go by without several 'Hey we've 1000 likes' posts etc'.
Personally i would rather have 1 genuine like that 10k who come to the page once and never return.  I don't stress over the numbers and barely take a bit of notice of them.

One thing i can't quite figure out, however, is the 'Unlikes'.  It happens from time to time and i always spend a little time wondering why?  What have me and Paulina done differently today than we did yesterday?  Is there something in particular the person isn't happy about?  A particular post or something other than that?

What i would love to happen is that if a member has decided to leave that they email/message us and tell us why?  If nothing else we would class it as constructive criticism?  We are always open to suggestions as to how to improve both the Blog and the FB page.  Your ideas would be very welcome and we don't bite (not unless you ask us too!!).

EWA IN DUBLIN (3)

Quick update -

I've been contacted by a few people concerned that after the cancellation of the UK dates that the same fate has happened to the Dublin show?
I can confirm that it is still going ahead as planned this coming Sunday (09/03).
Nothing has changed.
Some good and welcome news!

Friday 7 February 2014

EWA IN THE UK (6)

So there it is.  It's all ended it tears.
No UK dates. All cancelled.
It's a huge disappointment but you'll be glad to know that i'm not going to spend the next few minutes 'having a go' at the organisers.
There are clearly things that have went on behind the scenes that we know nothing about and probably never will.  I don't know the organisers and have had no contact from them but at the end of the day they tried and i'm 100% sure that their intentions to bring Ewa to us were good. Ultimately it failed  but hopefully lessons can be learned for the next time.  And hopefully there will be a next time.

Personally and for EFUK however, i'm both embarrassed and angry.
Embarrassed because i wasn't able to fully cover the proposed tour in as much detail as i would have liked to have done.
EFUK has been here (in all it's different forms) for almost 5 years now.  In all that time we have tried our very best to promote Ewa in the UK and in other English speaking countries.  Whilst i realise that we are totally unofficial are are just a fansite and Facebook page we work as hard as we can, not for any recognition but for Ewa.  Nothing else matters.

For a UK tour to be announced and for us to know very little about it was embarrassing and disappointing. Like us or hate us we are the only fansite out there for Ewa in English.  Let us do the job.  Help us to do it.

Had we been involved or included in any way surely we could have helped and would have been more than willing to do so.  It strikes me that anyone knowing that Ewa was in the UK would try and find an EFUK to find out more about it.  I humbly apologise that we were unable to do so.

The fact that none of the venues responded to my messages and that i also got no response from either of Ewa's official sites is also something i just can't understand?  Over the years we have never had any assistance whatsoever from anyone in Ewa's 'Officialdom' and that makes me angry.  It makes me seriously question the entire purpose of actually doing this at all.  I would have naturally presumed that if UK dates were being arranged that it would only be logical that would at least try to keep us informed of what was going on?  Not for the first time that didn't happen.

As i've stated many times in the past i don't speak or understand Czech or Polish and so doing this site is extremely difficult for me.  Paulina has been very busy with various other projects and helps as much as she can but the daily task of having to wade through news sites, blogs and facebook pages written in 2 languages that i don't understand is sometimes very tiring.  We have asked time and time again for new contributors to come on board and it hasn't happened.  I would have thought that after all these years someone, somewhere would have been interested in the job?

So where do we go from here?
I just don't know at the moment.  Is there actually any purpose in keeping this whole thing going at all.  I don't know the answer to that right now.

The UK tour experience has left me very very bitter and totally lacking in enthusiasm right now.  I so wanted to help but wasn't able to do so.  That's just not right.  In any way.

UK Dates Canceled - Translation

"Cancelling of  Ewa Farna UK Tour
Because of reasons independent from the organizer and big effort in preparing this tour I am forced to cancel Ewa shows in three UK cities.
Despite the determination of the organizer, agreed all the details about places, taking care of safety,
publicity events and good cooperation with media patrons, there are some complications about third parties.

Contention for my decision are lot of slanders and as well posting untrue information in few social media sites (connected eg. with discouraging to buying the tickets) by one Nottingham company.
Because of that some companies resigned  from cooperating seeing all that mess with shows.
Due to that, thinking about possible
low interest of show which could cause unpleasant opinions to Ewa, organizer and clubs where shows were supposed to be and because of impossibility of setting dates convenient to all interests I decided to cancel (probably fateful in effects) Ewa Farna UK Tour.
Next
Tuesday (04/02/2014) will be released official info about refund for a ticket. We sincerely apologize all Fans and people interested of participating in show and we promise to draw the consequences from people responsible for the failure of shows

Organizer of EF UK Tour
Przemek"
Well... good news is that Dublin is still on!

EWA IN THE UK (5)

It appears that the forthcoming dates here in the UK have been cancelled.
An announcement has been made here -

Unfortunately it's in Polish so i can't read it :-(
Must admit that i'm not at all surprised.
More reaction later.

Further info and tickets can be purchased here -

Unfortunately it's all written in Polish but it's easy enough to navigate.
At the moment it's looking fairly unlikely that i will be able to attend any of the shows as it's really too late now for me to make the necessary arrangements.

Further information as and when.

WE INVITE YOU!

It still doesn't confirm that it's the full band so we can only assume that it is?
As it's a niteclub we can also assume that it will not be an all ages event and that it will be over 18's only.

EWA IN THE UK (3)

OK Folks..here goes.
Firstly i apologise for not really being able to find out a lot more info about the shows to share with you here but i've tried...believe me....i've tried!

I've still had no response from either EwaFarna.pl or EwaFarna.cz despite several enquires i've made to them for information.

Re: London......I've had no reply from the venue.  It's still not listed on the venue's site as a forthcoming event.  None of the ticket agents i tried around London have any knowledge of it.  I've still, therefore, got no idea of how, when or where to get tickets for it.

Re:  Nottingham...I have been able to find out a little about this one but not much.  The venue doesn't have a webpage but from their Facebook page it appears to be either a Polish themed cafe or a cafe that specialises in Polish food.  It doesn't appear to be a very large venue?  From what i can gather there are no tickets available for this one.  What you have to do is to give your name to a local hairdressers (and no i'm not making this up!).  Whether this guarantees you a place or not i don't know?

Re:  Preston.....Similar story to London i'm afraid.  The venue have not responded to me, the show is not listed on their (really hard to navigate) website so no further info is known at this point?

Generally i still don't know if it's the full band or just Ewa appearing at either or all of the shows.  I don't know if any/all are all age events or over 18's only.

There is a new poster (see above) and i can't understand at all why it's written in Polish?  Do the organisers really think that the casual passerby in London will see it and know what 'Kupno Biletow i informacje' means??  This is the opportunity for non Polish/Czech nationals to see Ewa in the UK so i would have thought it would have made sense to at least have the promotional material available in English?

At the moment it looks very likely that i will be unable to attend any of the shows which, for me, is hugely disappointing.  I don't know where to get a ticket so can't proceed to make any sort of arrangements to get to London unless i'm 100% sure that it's actually going to happen?

Before i forget, there is a telephone number on the above poster which i presume is for more information. I've tried to call the number numerous times.  It's either constantly engaged or no one answers??

It may sound like i'm a little frustrated?  That's because i am.  Promotion wise i feel that, so far, the whole thing is a complete shambles.  With less that a month to go there is just very little information out there.
I'm actually deeply embarrassed that Ewa Farna UK can't bring you full coverage of Ewa in the UK. I simply can't report on things i don't know.

I will of course keep on trying and as soon/if i know anything further i'll report it here or on the Facebook page.

P.S.  Similar story with the Dublin show.  The venue have not responded.

EWA IN THE UK (2)

Promo poster for the UK dates.

I'm still struggling to find anywhere, including the venues themselves, that have tickets for sale for any of the shows?

EWA IN THE UK

At last i can finally confirm the news that we have all been waiting for for all these years.

She's coming to the UK!!
I couldn't be happier.  I never thought that she would come, ever, but i'm more than glad to say i was wrong.

I'll do my best to give as many details as i can.  I have contacted both the PL and the Cze Official sites for some more information but as per usual they have not responded.
There are 3 dates, so far, confirmed in the UK.

1. 13//02/2014 - Arista Bar, London, England......at 9pm...ticket price is £20.

http://www.aristabar.com/contact.html

2.  14/02/2014 - The Better Half, Nottingham, England....at 10pm....ticket price is £25.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Better-Half/589271517770191

This venue doesn't appear to have an Official site?

3.  15/02/2014 - Rumes Nightclub, Preston, England........at 10pm.......ticket prices £20/£30.

http://rumesnightclub.wix.com/rumes#!__page-0/events

At the moment none of the venues have posted any details of the shows and i've checked numerous ticket agents but once again i can't find any details of where to purchase tickets.  Any further info i can find will be updated as soon as possible.

At the moment i can't confirm if she will be bringing the full band with her?  I expect she will but can't confirm.

So this is it....our opportunity to get out in force and support Ewa in the UK.  Finally.
Let's turn up in numbers and show her what she means to us.
I hope to attend the show in London and will provide a full report on it after the event.

I'll update when/if i receive any further confirmed details on the events.

ON PRIDE, SELF RESPECT AND DIGNITY

Not just an excuse to slip some Deacon Blue into the Blog.  There's never a bad time for a bit of Deacon Blue.
I'm angry tonight.  And disappointed.  VERY disappointed.
I try my very best at all times not to criticise Ewa.  I really do.  But sometimes a little bit of criticism is justified?  You probably won't agree but right now i really don't care.
So what's got me so riled?
This, which appeared today from the X Factor set i think -

One of the many things i love about Ewa is that she has always resisted the temptation to remove her clothing in order to sell some CD's.  She's not Doda and thankfully she's not Miley Cyrus.
So i wish someone could explain to me what this is all about?
It's cheap.  It's nasty and it's certainly not the Ewa that i know and love.
A lot of it, i believe is down to those dirtyfingers style 'people' she seems to be using more and more frequently.  But she's a grown woman now and should have the common sense to say no.
What sort of example is a picture like this going to set to the thousands and thousands of teenage girls that that look up to her?
Is this an acceptable way to dress on national television?  No it isn't not by a very long way.

I'm sorry Ewa.  But JUST NO :-(

NEW YEARS EVE 2013

This year Ewa played in the town of Bialystok (and no i'm not going to even attempt to say that!!) in Poland on New Years Eve.  It's up near to the border with Belarus (i think) and it looked to be pretty chilly.
You can find a great photo set and some video footage here -

A lot of the video footage isn't all that great so far unfortunately.  Blogger is doing it's usual, really annoying, can't find any of the Youtube links at the moment but there but there is lots of clips from the show available there.

CHRISTMAS IN FARNATOWN.

Ewa has been feeling all festive this Christmas by lending her voice to a themed album which includes some other artists attached to the Magic Records label in Poland.
It's a Charity thing i think.
Here's a couple of videos of two of the songs from the album.
Anyone who knows me personally will know that it takes a lot more than this to make me feel all Christmassy  but they are both fairly pleasant and charming songs.
Sorry the video boxes are different sizes and look untidy.  I tried to fix it.  I really did.
